There are two types of words in the two-syllable modification-center structure compound words, they are verb and adjective, the research object of this article is the adjective. Scholars’study of modifying compound words most focused on the whole of the words, or tend to the attribute-head compound words, but the study of modification-center structure compound words was less. So we sight on the scope of modification-center structure compound words. In this range, adjective is far less than the number of the verb. There are two reasons for chosing the form of partial formal compound adjectives as the research object. On the one hand, the research of this field is relatively blank. On the other hand, the structure of the adjectives has its uniqueness both in the structure or in the meaning. In this article, we divided into four chapters to research the two-syllable partial formal compound adjectives.The first chapter is a prevue of the two-syllable adverbial-headword modifying construction compound adjectives in contemporary Chinese. Words are composed of morphemes, we should have a basic understanding of the words’composition before we analyze the kind of compound word. It will come down to the problem of morpheme grammatical categories, when we summarize a kind of compound words’ subordinate category syntax structure type. In this article, we identify the grammatical categories on the basis of morphemes’meaning. The centre morphemes of the two-syllable adverbial-headword modifying construction compound adjectives are the adjective morphemes and the verb morphemes and the partial morphemes has modification function for the centre morpheme in the semantic. We should pay attention to several aspects when judging this kind of word. Although the amount of partial formal compound adjectives is not much, but this kind of word has its inevitability and necessity to produce, and it has its uniqueness in the composition and significant after its created.The second chapter is to analyze the constitute morphemes of the partial formal compound adjectives. The centre morphemes of the two-syllable partial formal compound adjectives are the adjective morphemes and the verb morphemes, the verb morphemes’grammatical attribute is different from the part of speech, and this problem relates to the part of speech and the overall meaning of the word. We adopt the method of classification analysis and comparison to study the partial morpheme, then summarize the characteristics of the meaning expression.In the third chapter we mainly study the two-syllable adverbial-headword modifying construction compound adjectives from the semantic point. Mainly divided into two aspects:the semantic relationship of the partial morpheme and the centre morpheme, the relationship of the morpheme’s meaning and the word’s meaning. And the relationship of the morpheme meaning and the word meaning is divided into three parts. The two-syllable adverbial-headword modifying construction compound adjectives’semanteme also involve the issue of semantic transparency, and its semantic transparency has three levels from strong to weak. Through the inductive analysis of the semantic model, we find "character+character" is the strong semantic model of the two-syllable adverbial-headword modifying construction compound adjectives.The fourth chapter analyses the meanings of the polysemous word, who contains meaning items of partial formal compound adjectives’. In our tatistics of all the two-syllable adverbial-headword modifying construction compound adjectives, the proportion of polysemous words accounted for28%. This is not a small number, we should pay more attention to their presence. We divide the polysemous words into multi-category words and non intersecting words to study the relationship between various separation of meanings.
