Chinese belongs to language typology system of isolated language,has not strictsensemorphology changes. Its main grammar means are words order and function words. Affix isgrammatical terms in English; however, affix is such a phenomenon in Chinese. Affix as animportant grammar phenomenon in Chinese, has a long history. It appears in Shijing, such as"have、it”, and so on. Then it produce some new affixes, such as "birth、bottom、old、son "and so on. In the process of the development of the Chinese language, some affix disappeared,some are still active in Chinese, such as "old、son、head、son", etc. Affix as an importantmeans of word formation, in the developing course of Chinese language has a very importantposition.This paper studied the affix in modern Chinese, choose two typical dictionary" ChineseDictionary"(2011)and "Modern Chinese Dictionary "(2005)as a corpus, descript andmeasured affixes of two dictionaries,then,comparatively studied affixes and word formations,inspected modern Chinese affixes in the evolution of this historical period, seek thedevelopment change rule.Paper is divided into seven parts:The first part is the introduction. It mainly introduced this article selected topic reason,the research content, research value, the research difficulties and research methods of thisarticle.The second part is overview. It mainly included affix research review and about the affix.According to the research status of the points, the affix was carded and compared. It mainlyincluded different name, definitions and determine of affix. And this paper put forward newstandard for affix.The third part is the description and analysis of affix in" Chinese Dictionary”. It mainlystudied evolution of four prefixes and fourteen suffixes, for example, the affix type, thenumber of collocation range and word-formation affix, and so on, had carried on the detailedstatistics and description.The fourth part is the description and analysis of affix in"Modern Chinese Dictionary".Itmainly studied the evolution of four prefixes and twelve suffixes, for example, the affix type,the number of collocation range and word-formation affix, and so on, had carried on the detailed statistics and description.The fifth part is the comparative analysis of affix in the "Chinese Dictionary" and"Modern Chinese Dictionary”. It mainly studied the changes of affix in the two dictionaries,manifested in four aspects: changes of affix members, changes of affix types, changes of affixword-building capacity, changes of affix word formation color.The sixth part is the affixation tendency analysis of root in "Chinese Dictionary" and"Modern Chinese Dictionary". The affixation tendency of "sex、chemical、home、fans" wasdiscussed in this part.The seventh part is the epilogue. The paper summarized the research contents,researchresults, and the deficiency.
