This thesis aims at exploring proper teaching materials and methods for colleges and universities in China, by inquiring method, comparative method and theoretical method, so as to provide references for music aesthetics curriculum teaching in Chinese colleges and universities. Chapter one attempts to grasp the general knowledge of the facts and problems existing in contemporary music aesthetics teaching in Shandong colleges and universities, and thus propose a revolutionary direction for its teaching. Of course, that will be achieved by means of inquiry and visitations on teaching plans and students’teaching conditions, etc. What is more, fundamental music education will be enquired and investigated, as the writer of the present paper plans to employ the problems existing in it as references to music aesthetics education. Chapter two, based on the general knowledge, conclusion material, detailed material in five music aesthetics books, research the different characteristics of layout structure, text content and so on, of theses books, then combine the object of the music aesthetics education, to probe the revolutionary direction for the teaching materials of music aesthetics. Chapter three based on the empirical investigation and analysis of the text of chapter one and chapter two, use the method of inductive and deductive, to search teaching materials and methods of music aesthetics in Chinese colleges and universities, via conclusion and deduction. Through investigation and exploration, it is not hard to perceive that Chinese colleges and universities’ music teachers lack pedagogical consciousness in music aesthetics teaching. Furthermore, they cannot combine students’ necessities with teaching material design and teaching method and examination well. Owing to that, students in our colleges and universities show little interest in music aesthetics and have no clear concepts of it. Theories are far from practices, and aesthetic perception are not enough as well. In addition, through The analysis of materials, there exits a phenomenon that contemporary teaching materials pay much attention to theoretical construction, while produce a difference of accepting ability of students and practical needs. This thesis, is going to discuss and analysis from the two aspects of music aesthetics teaching: the teaching content and teaching method, hope to constantly improve the aesthetics of music teaching plays a positive role in the development. Firstly, in content, suggest that teachers should combine the questions of daily music life, take teaching materials supplement on the important position, and put the books on the side-important position, put the specific issues as the core teaching. Secondly, on the methods, advise teachers use the interactive teaching method in the teaching process, such as the theme of type, question type and elicitation method, to arouse the students’ interest in learning, to cultivate the students’ thinking ability. Furthermore, give advice on teaching methods in the classroom teaching and assessment process.
