In Xun Lu’s early creative period as well as in his late creative period, it’s extremely easy to find the death writing in his works. Obviously, Xun Lu’s death writing can’t cut off from his practical experience, including the death of the noble-minded patriots, the death of loved ones, the death of the poor wretches, and the neat-death experiences caused by his diseases, etc. But the death writing can’t completely imitate the real world. It was a process of artistic thought, detailed creation and arrangement, and also profound thinking on life.This paper was divided in two chapters. In the first chapter, Xun Lu’s death writing was analyzed from perspective of literary creation. In Xun Lu’s novels and some essays, death appeared loading with Xun Lu’s intention, embedding the purpose of life, and uncovering the pain for attention of cure. While Xun Lu created death situation to express his experience and thought of life in the poetic essays with philosophy implication. And also in several works, a fantastic death situation appeared, which wasn’t created intentionally, but it brought the readers a strong sense of aesthetic feeling of death. In the death writings Xun Lu created intentionally, death was displayed in three methods, which was homicide, Suicide, and natural death with spiritual suicide. The occurrences of three death methods were different. From Xun Lu’s selection bias on the death methods, we could explore mental causation hidden during death writing. But specific to each death writings, death was endowed with expression, narrative construction, and symbol, etc. Above all, the first chapter elaborated how Xun Lu applied death to create articles.The second chapter elaborated Xun Lu’s thought of death value, and his view of emphasizing the individual. While studying in Japan, Xun Lu had his own understanding of individual, combining the view of Taiyan Zhang and western thinkers. He suggested, individual was a subjectivist, who was visionary, and would fight with the secular world. Individual view effected Xun Lu’s whole life, and ran through his death writing. This chapter elaborated Xun Lu’s individual view from the following three aspects. First, Xun Lu hoped to arouse people’s view of individual by writing things that people killed by violence. Secondly, Xun Lu put the individual view into the history story by old tales retold, hoping to correct the traditional view, and utilized essay to reveal how the traditional culture neglected individual. Thirdly, Xun Lu stuck to individual view and established his unique death view in his writing.
