A Study On The Ellipsis In Guoyu

Ellipsis is very important in the Chinese grammar study. This is not only because ellipsis isvarious and complicated, but also because ellipsis study is a project which exist in ancient timesand modern times and which is continuously developing. Guoyu already has all basic types ofellipsis, especially has rich subject ellipsis and has important historical material, which deservesdeep research and investigation. But at present circles on the work’s Ellipsis is not system, Sofull arrangement and case study is very necessary. This article dedicated to this regard,summarizing the types and characteristics of the ellipsis in this book, deeply discussing thesubject ellipsis and exploring grammatical characteristics of Pre-Qin Chinese.This thesis includes five chapters:The first chapter specifically analyze the subject value of this paper, the research status, themethods of the research, and so on.The second chapter defines the concept of the Guoyu’s ellipsis and classifies the Guoyu’sellipsis from different angles. According to different ways of the Guoyu’s ellipsis, the ellipsiscan be divided into the ellipsis according to the front, the ellipsis according to the back, and thebackground ellipsis; according to whether the omitted components are the same or not, theellipsis can be divided the sole ellipsis and the alternate ellipsis; according to whether there areother components between the sentence with ellipsis and the sentence without ellipsis, theellipsis can be divided into continual ellipsis and the interrupted ellipsis; according to ellipsis indifferent context, the ellipsis can be divided into the dialog ellipsis and the narrative ellipsis;according to different content of ellipsis, the ellipsis can be divided into the sentences ellipsisand the composition ellipsis.The third chapter talks about ellipsis of sentence elements in Guoyu in detail and takes it asthe main line. Moreover, according to the way of the Guoyu’s ellipsis, every ellipsis of sentenceelements in Guoyu has three types. Based on interpretation and analysis of Guoyu’ ellipsis, wecan identify which kind of sentence element can be omitted, how about the omitted way ofsentence elements, and so on.The fourth chapter confirms that Guoyu’ ellipsis come true by the way of vocabulary meansand summarize the rules of Pre-Qin Chinese grammar: the identity law and the exclusive law bythe study of the subject ellipsis according to the front.Furthermore, we gains more in-depth understanding about the organizing rules of sentence structure and the characteristics of Chinese grammar in Pre-Qin through two groups ofcomparisons: the subject ellipsis according to the front in Pre-Qin Chinese and the one inIndo-European, the subject ellipsis according to the front in Pre-Qin Chinese and the one inmodern Chinese language.The fifth chapter summarizes Guoyu’ omitted situation in the first four chapters: theclassification of Guoyu’s ellipsis is various and complicated; the omitted sentence elementsabout Guoyu has many kinds and the omitted way of this book is complex; the subject ellipsisaccording to the front in Guoyu come true by the way of vocabulary means and demonstrate therules of the identity law and the exclusive law; Pre-Qin Chinese grammar is text standardgrammar and parataxis grammar.
