On The Translation Of Sentence Structures In Science And Technology Articles

With the rapid development of science and technology, international science and technology communication, device importing and oversea promotion are becoming more and more frequent, and therefore more importance is attached to scientific and technological translation. There is practical significance to study and discuss the characteristics and translation skills of science and technology articles.In the process of translation, in order to translate correctly, translators need to make clear the type and features of the to-be-translated text and notice expression differences between the resource language and target language. Science and technology articles, with accurate language and usually many technical terms, have their own characteristics. In the thesis, four science and technology texts (about ten thousand words) are selected to show how to translate certain sentence structures. For the English-Chinese translation part, the writer discusses it from three aspects, i.e. the translation of long sentences, the translation of passive sentences and the translation of multi-modifiers; for the Chinese-English translation part, from two aspects, i.e. the translation of implicit logical relations and subjectless sentences. In the last part of the thesis, the writer shares some feelings and experiences of scientific and technological translation.
