English Translation Strategy On Special Words In Historical Navigational Documents

This translation report is mainly about the problems on the translation of some special words in translating process, which is based on the the Marine Intercommunication with Japan and Ocean Navigation. The Marine Intercommunication with Japan and Ocean Navigation both excerpt from Navigation History of Ancient China (Sun Guangqi,2005). The former mainly tells about the intercommunication on culture, economy, military and other fields between China and Japan in the Song Dynasty and the Yuan Dynasty. Many translation problems occur in this part, such as the translation of ancient Chinese and Japanese official position, the translation of the ancient place name of China and Japan, the translation of ancient government agencies of China and Japan and the translation of Chinese era name. The latter mainly tells about the intercommunication on military, politics, economy and other fields between China and Southeast Asia, South Asia and even Africa, and the translation problems of local place and government agencies need to be solved. Some translation problems of special words have been resolved, but most of these need to be done by the translator on the basis of translation strategy.The report is composed of the introduction of translation tasks, translating process, solutions of translation problems and summary, with the third part as the key point.
