Practice Report Of Business English Interpretation

With the development of global economy fueled up, more and more importance is being attached to business English interpretation due to the ever-increasing cross-border volume of business activities and cooperation. Business interpreters are needed not only in profession but also in qualification, which I have learned from this practice. Business interpretation has unique characteristics, for instance the words are simple and clear; the sentences are short; politeness is stressed throughout the whole process, etc. To improved my business interpretation skills and provide some light upon future business interpretation activities, the author introduces her interpretation practice, summarizes the problems, analyzes them and try to solve them from the perspective of Adaption Theory by Verschueren.This report is comprised of five parts. Chapter one briefly introduces the nature, content and preparation of this practice. Chapter two analyzes the difficulties of the target text in terms of word choice, sentence structure and cultural difference. Chapter three discusses the characteristics of language and culture in the original language. Chapter four analyzes the course of interpretation in terms of linguistic structure adaptation, lexical adaptation and cultural dynamic adaptation, based on the Adaptive Theory proposed by Verschuerenin1999in his book Understanding Pragmatics. And the last chapter summarizes the main content of the report with some suggestions on the cultivation of business interpretation.
