"Bei" sentence is one of the common pattern in modern Chinese, which has differentchanges in various historical periods. Only by using the method that the combination ofinternal and external causes can make a reasonable explanation for those changes of "Bei"sentence within a period of history. In pre-modern Chinese, the changes of "Bei" sentenceinclude: the special "Bei" sentence appeared, the simplification of semantic color, the changeof negative form. The contact between Chinese and Altaic language is immediate causeduring the evolution of the "Bei" sentence in modern Chinese. The restriction of languageexpression and the process of grammaticalization also contributed to the evolution of "Bei"sentence in modern Chinese. After the May4th movement, the frequency of "Bei" increasedsignificantly and the development of semantic color is balanced. Besides, expression has alsobeen fixed and "Bei" structure is used as attributive. The main reason of these changes is theindirect contact between Chinese and Indo-European language after the May4th movement.In modern Chinese, the structure of "Bei+XX" is widely used in the network, newspapers andspoken, which has attracted attention of many scholars. The special expression has beyond theconventional expression in form and meaning. It is formed at the request of the socialenvironment, and the imitation of English passive sentences and Chinese expression form of"Bei", and the restriction of economy principle of network language. In the final analysis,those changes of "Bei" sentence is the result of internal cause and external cause.
