The Research Of Chen Mansheng Calligraphy Art

Based on the exploration in Chen’s calligraphic style and the shaping of his thinking on calligraphy, it is a research on Chen Mansheng calligraphy’s contribution to Yixing Art in the article and also, an observation on history of art and history of culture. By carefully combing his life and as much as possible combining his calligraphy with Yixing Art, the article has studied his art, and tried to re-interpretation the cultural significance of his painting, sculpture and Yixing Art works. His Yixing Art works, his calligraphy and seal cutting art are closely interrelated with each other and also, are complementary to each other. To a certain extent, the prime determinant of his Yixing artistic achievements is his calligraphy and seal cutting art. In the late Qing Dynasty the painter and the seal Chen Hongshou (1768-1822), whose literary name is Ligong, and who styled himself as Mansheng, is one of the famous Xiling Eight during the Qing Qianlong Emperor and Jiaqing Emperor. His calligraphy is antique and elegant. He is proficient in Regular script, Running script, Official script and Cursive. Chen Hongshou is very talented, good at Classical diction, and famous for calligraphy and seal cutting. He is not only good at Yixing Art but also proficient at literature, painting and calligraphy, and seal cutting.Forasmuch therefore as the prime determinant of his Yixing artistic achievements is his calligraphy and seal cutting art, especially his calligraphy, we are going to reveal how it creat, to find its own rules, deep analysis of which reveals how to use the art of calligraphy to the purple sand art and its important impact inevitability of this article a few specific parts described, divided into the following:(1) Shaping of Chen’s thinking on calligraphy and his view of calligraphy.
