| The masterpiece of "The Romance of the Western Chamber"which has been popular for hundreds of years has a very high value in Chinese literature and opera history. Visual patterns of The Romance of the Western Chamber"are exceedingly rich, not only on many papers and silks, but also on porcelains, bringing new vitality to porcelains ornamentation. Ornamentations about the stories of "The Romance of the Western Chamber" appeared in large numbers on porcelains in Late Ming and Early Qing Dynasty, and they have very high artistic merits. In this paper, I tried to study the relations between the changes of "The Romance of the Western Chamber"stories on porcelains and woodblock prints, the relations between the changes and opera performances, from the stories patterns of "The Romance of the Western Chamber", ornamentation features and plots in Late Ming and Early Qing Dynasty. I also tried to know how the purchasers’demands changed from ornamentation features and the culture and ideological connotations we could get from the drawing plots. Besides, I also made a brief analysis of the fifth picture of"The Romance of the Western Chamber" on porcelains and the attitudes of purchasers. |
