Chinese, Japanese Quantifier Metaphor Comparative Study

This paper will introduce and discuss the expression of quantifier metaphor. Itcan be achieved by the matches of specific quantifiers and images. Moreover,quantifier metaphor can also express the complicated images deep in heart of theauthor by the relations of quantifiers and images. That is to say, by this way ofmetaphor, the inner world concluding affection, mood and sensibilities in the brain ofauthors can be realized. From the point of using of quantifier metaphor in Chinese andJapanese, the utilization of quantifier metaphor in poems and proverbs are reviewed.By analyzing the this phenomenon, we obtained the conclusion that the quantifiermetaphor is a unconventionality using way in different language on the basis ofvarious images in the poems and emotion of author. As a product of specific thinking,it can not only express the image, but also can convey the author’s specific affection.The whole paper consists four parts. The first part mainly introduce theconception of quantifier metaphor, recent researches, and the exploration of its using;The second discuss the using of quantifier metaphor in Chinese and Japanese and therationality of their existence, further present the classifies and its using standards; Thethird part analyzes the corresponding relations of quantifier metaphor in Chinese andJapanese by some instances.; In the final part, we get the conclusion that the using ofquantifier metaphor should follow the difference and similarity of distinct nations,different using way in different languages via various point of views includingcognize way, grammar and cultural communication, and so on.
