As an important component of human experience, emotion is one of the most central aspects of human experience.Emotions are something abstract and difficult to understand, and they are often metaphorically described by people in order to describe them vividly. It can be said that metaphor is an important means to understand emotions, while ’image schema’ is an important tool to understand emotional metaphors. In recent years, many scholars have done a lot of research on emotional metaphors, but most of them were focused on the study of emotions such as anger,Joy and sadness, with few studies on the emotional aspect of fear. And most of the analysis on emotional conceptualization focuses on the "similarity" between different things, while ignoring the role of ’image schema’ in analyzing emotional metaphor. So in this article,I want to conduct specific analysis on the conceptual state of emotional expression of ’fear’ in Korean and Chinese on the basis of ’conceptual metaphor’ theory and by virtue of ’image schema’.In addition,I manage to find the similarities and differences between them through comparison. The main research results of this paper are as follows:First,8000 sentences related to the emotion of fear were collected in the corpus of Korean((?)),SJ-RIKS and Chinese CCL firstly. And according to the classification criteria of metaphor, the metaphorical expressions related to the emotion of ’fear’ are screened and classified. This paper classifies emotional metaphors into the following categories, such as the metaphors that ’fear is the enemy’,’fear is the force of nature’,’fear is an illness’,’fear is a weapon’,’fear is a burden’,’fear is the liquid in the container’,’fear is food’,’fear is the direction(down)’,’fear is an animal’and ’fear is the separation of soul and body’.Second,by the application of the theory of ’force schema, container schema,part-whole schema, balance schema and up-down schema’,this paper makes a specific analysis of the metaphorical expression related to the emotion of fear in Korean and Chinese respectively. From the analysis results, there are many similarities for the metaphor expression of fear emotion between the two languages of Korean and Chinese. That is they all have the same source domain as ’enemy, natural force, illness, weapon, burden, liquid in the container, food and direction(down)’.As for the reason for this similarity,it is that people have the same physical experience and physical reactions.Third, with the help of the corpus of Korean((?)),the SJ-RIKS and the CCL corpus of Chinese, this paper makes a specific statistics for the proportion of representative language expression in the metaphor of fear emotion.Through the statistical results,it finds that in the two languages of Korean and Chinese, even though they have the same emotional metaphors, there are differences in their common language expressions in the same metaphors.Through this comparative study,it can make learners have a better understanding for the accurate expression of emotional language in each other’s country.By the application the theory of ’conceptual metaphor’ and ’image schema’,the research results getting from the contrastive analysis of the emotional expression of’fear’ in Korean and Chinese in this paper have great significance and value for the education of Korean and translation. It not only enables the scholars learning the language of Korean can more accurately master the emotional expression commonly used in each other’s country, but also makes up the shortcomings of traditional machine translation at the same time, which can make it more perfect.
