The international trade industry of our country is developing swiftly. Every year, lots ofuniversities and colleges supply trained people to the enterprises of this industry. As Englishbecame the most frequently used language in the industry. The talents who have a goodcommand of English are in great demand.The thesis centers around the Business English curriculums in higher vocational schoolswhich have differences from universities and colleges. The direction of vocational educationin our country is to bring up a number of able people who have a certain expertise and skills.Their framework of knowledge should be practical-oriented. The higher vocational schoolshould according to the requirements of their professional positions to implement professionalknowledge.So it’s essential to analyze the social needs to guide vocational school BE course design.But most of our graduates need to be re-cultivated in BE by employers when set to their firstjob. In some ways, it’s an unseen waste of talent and resources. Meanwhile, it reflects that theBusiness English teaching of our country now seems backward compared with the rapiddevelopment of Chinese international trading.This paper uses needs analysis theory and ESP course design theory as basic theories.Applying ESP course design theory from Tom Hutchinson and Alan Waters. The social needsresearch was carried out by visiting trading companies. And questionnaires play an vital rolein learners’ needs analysis. After analyzing the survey result, found out that there are someimportant issues existing in BE curriculums need to be reformed immediately. At the end, thethesis offers some suggestions to deal with them.
