Sun, Moon And Star Images In Tang Poetry

Sun images, moon images and star images are three common images in Tang Poetry.These three images tremendously promote the aesthetic molding in Tang Poetry creation, andgreatly enrich the thoughts, sensation and aesthetic angles of view. By collecting andillustrating the images of sun, moon and star in Tang Poetry, this thesis investigated theaesthetic molding of these three images, summarized their value in Tang Poetry, anddemonstrated the effects of these three images on Tang Poetry creation from multiple aspects.This thesis consists of three chapters. Chapter1studied sun images. In Chapter1, therising sun，the burning sun，the setting sun，the white sun were illustrated according to theimages of imperial authority, passionate ambition, depressed frustration, political expression,home-missing farewell, life philosophy, and the natural principles, respectively. Combinedwith the human sentimental difference initiated by the transform of sun’s light and heat fromstrong to weak in a day, and varied influences of sunlight to human under differentcircumstance, Chapter1thereby analyzed the applications of these images.Chapter2discussed moon images. Chapter2analyzed the aesthetic effects of moon inTang Poetry based on the images of parting missing, home-missing, failure of official career,and praise of beauty. Combined with attributes of the moon’s quiet reserved, Chapter2particularly discussed these issues according to the same and different aspects in expression ofsun image and moon imageChapter3focused on star images. This chapter analyzed the particular meaning of starsin accordance with ancient observation of stars and horoscope. In addition, this chapteranalyzed the phenomenon that poets introduced star images in the poetry, from aspects ofpolitical thoughts and attitudes, frustration in official career, exclamation of fate, love,friendship and blood relatives. Finally, the aesthetic styles were elucidated in poetic creation.According to the analysis of the existence of sun, moon and star images in the TangPoetry, this thesis combed the applications of “Celestial image” in poetry creation, andsummarized the significant values of “Celestial image” in poetry creation.
