The serious trust crisis in modern society results in the distorted family values. Thepositive aspect of traditional family value is abandoned and there are many negativesocial phenomenons such as extramarital affairs and domestic violence. Femaleremainder of marriage is everywhere. In the contrast, male gain too much superiorityabout mate choices about marriage. Besides, people begin to lose their social and familyresponsibility. All these issues deserve the public to re-examine the family values and beserious for the re-establishment of a new family values system.Ailing Zhang and Jane Austen are female famous writers with the importantliterature status in the world. They both have the traditional and unconventional familyvalues to focus on the female survival status in the society through family—the maindepiction scene in the work, and to show their ideas. Their works disseminate the uniquefamily value and attract audiences to ponder family values. In this paper, the theme is thecomparison of family values, combined with the analysis of works through differentangles of the traditional values and unconventional values. It demonstrates the differenceand the same regarding family values. In addition, the parallel study is the main researchmethod for the comparison.The full text is divided into three parts. The first chapter is a brief introduction,including the concept of family values and the family background of authors and theirpersonal family values.In the chapter two, it discusses the same of family values in the works and discoversthe reasons. From the traditional family value and unconventional family value’sperspective, it analyzes the similar points of the works by three differentcategories—couple value, parental value, and female value. In the end, it talks about thereasons of the same by the society and the author’s individual factors.In the chapter three, it shows the difference of family values in the works and findsthe reasons. From the traditional family value and unconventional family value’s angle, itcompares the different factors of the works through three various aspects---couple value, parental value, and relative’s value. Additionally, it discusses what causes the differenceboth in the society and the family background of the authors.In the conclusion part, I will compare and discuss the difference and same aboutfamily values in the east culture and west culture.
