Explorations on the dating violence become a new theme in the study of collegestudents’ love education. Many international surveys show that the existence ofdating violence is a common phenomenon among high school students and collegestudents while they are having a romance. It has developed to a public health issue.As a new concept, the dating violence is introduced to China within recent years. Dueto the lack of researches from the psychological perspective and the lack of integratedstudies on the complexity between the multiple variables, the existing domesticliteratures has limitations in revealing the factors that influence dating violence andneeds further perfection.This study is conducted through three researches which are independent butinterrelated with each other. CTS2factor structure is investigated and a revisedquestionnaire with good reliability and validity is compiled, taking China’s culturalbackground into consideration. The Dating violence phenomenon among universitystudents from Yunnan province is investigated and its difference in populationbackground is analyzed systematically. The relationships between and the effects ofparenting, adult attachment and self–control and college students’ dating violence areexplored. Finally, variables of adult attachment, self control and dating violence areput into an integrated relation model through the path analysis technology based onintegrity. Approaches that these factors influence this dating violence are discussed.Major findings of the study:(1) College students’ dating violence questionnaire is constitutes of six subscales:physical violence, psychological violence, sexual violence, intermediate violence,damage degree and consultation.30test projects produce a higher degree ofdistinction and internal consistency reliability, which denotes the scale possesses idealconception validity. (2) Dating violence of college students from Yunnan can be grouped as six aspects:psychological violence, physical violence, sexual violence, intermediate violence,damage degree and consultation, with psychological violence as the main factor.(3) Dating violence is quite frequent among lovers from college, with psychologicalviolence being the highest rate (80%), sexual violence the lowest (20%).(4) Among the four kinds of violence, the incidence of mutual violence was far higherthan of male, female violence. Comparisons of male and female violence reveal thatexcept sexual violence, women’s violent attacks rate are higher than n other threedimensions,.(5) Gender, grade, times of falling in love, whether drinking, whether smoking,whether being the only child of the family, whether have had sex with lovers, whethercohabiting with lovers, and with who cohabits the longest have significant influenceon one or more dimensions of dating violence. While home address, parents’education degree have no effect on dating violence(6) Parenting, adult attachment and self-control are significantly correlated withdating violent Adult attachment and self-control can predict the different dimensionsof dating violence.(7) Self-control is significantly and directly correlated with and can indirectlyinfluence dating violence. Adult attachment is a intermediate variable between self-control and dating violence.
