The Primary Exploration Studay On Yang Shen’ Essays

Yang Shen was a very famous litterateur who created many works in the middle of Ming Dynasty. And his works relate to wide range of areas. The successive dynasty scholars researched many achievements on Yang Shen, mainly concentrated on his Poetry、Ci、Sanqu and other types of literature, but rarely on Yang Shen’essays. This thesis consists of two parts to research primarily on Yang Shen’essays. The first part focuses on researching independent type of Yang Shen’s essays.Based on the Series Of Yang ShengAn, which include363essays, the author interprets and researches them by independenting. Then summarizes the individual feature of each literary form. The second part is the art research on Yang Shen’ essays. The author discusses from three aspects. First is about the artistic feature of the essays by Yang Shen. Based on the first part, the author summarizes that the essays can absorb literary nutrition from preceding dynasties and has individual independence and innovation. each article has distinguishing feature; his essays are constituted by appropriate reasonings, serious wordings reflecting sincere feelings; then the essays reflect Yang Shen’s neutral objective attitude. Secondly, the author discusses Yang Shen’s four views on articles, which are "shen、sheng、gong、qiao". Its connotation mirrors the author’s themes and cultural value when writing books and he asserted to measure his views of essays based on "beauty" principle,meanwhile, Yang Shen still payed attention to rhetorics of clearness, briefness and novelty. Thirdly, this article explores Yang Shen’s article view towards history. The author summarizes that Yang Shen always holded the idea of times literary, tried to build his own article view of history; and also recommend each period’s representative figures and articles; moreover, this article also points out the contradictions in Yang Shen’s article view of history. Lastly, on the basis of previous article, the author pays a tribute to Yang Shen because of his important linking role and significant status in the Ming Dynasty literature.
