Yang Shen was a noticeable figure out of ancient Chinese relegated literati. During his exile to Yunnan, he wrote a great amount of ci, which depicted the unique culture and scenery of Yunnan, contained his longing for his relatives and friends far from hometown and recorded his feelings at that time. His ci became an independent peak standing in ancient Yunnan ci and a unique part of the ci of the Ming Dynasty.The study was carried out by combing analyzing the historical background of the poet with close reading of the text. A brief literature review was given to the studies of Yang Shen’s ci; based on the background of Yang Shen’s creation of his ci, how Yang Shen’s experience of being exiled to Yunnan affected his ci was explored; with his ci created during the period as the focus, a classification research was given to the typical ci of Yang Shen including his ci of celebrating Yunnan, expressing his homesickness and voicing his feelings; last, from the perspective of his changing life in Yunnan, the development of Yang Shen’s emotional experience while making the ci was briefly discussed and the value of his ci during his exile was also analyzed tentatively.Yang Shen’s ci made during his exile to Yunnan was a significant part of his numerous literary works. The ci displayed his unfortunate experience of being exiled and has became an important approach for people to know how Yang Shen felt during that period of time. Moreover, the ci, which was among the early literary works to exhibit the unique regional culture of Yunnan, has become an important means for people to know the scenery of humanities of Yunnan. Being exiled to Yunnan had branded in Yang Shen’s ci.
