The Research On The Belief Of Xu Zhenjun In Jiangxi

Xu Zhenjun, as the lord god of Gan culture since Eastern Jin dynasty, centeredon Wanshou Palace in Xishan of Nanchang, had formed much parish of Xu Zhenjunbelief in the Southern dynasties. During the period of song and Yuan, it’s formed XuZhenjun group of loyalty filial as the core belief, the so-called “loyalty filial of JingMing”. In the Ming and Qing dynasties, from a series chifeng by the Imperial Court,Xu Xun got status of God worship code. And under the strong promotion of localgovernment, Xu Zhenjun belief was very popular around the Jiangxi area.Longevity Palaces were built in different regions of Jiangxi with dense localcharacteristics. The main performance of Xu Zhenjun cult and adore by Jiangxipeople includes people to participate in different kinds of traditional religious ritual,pilgrims, donations, and so on. This thesis tries to restore the true features of XuZhenjun in history through the research of the words and deeds of Xu Zhenjun.Order to Longevity Palace of Xishan for example, Xu Zhenjun, which is known asthe Fu Master in Jiangxi, acts as a Taoist deity, patron of merchants and immigrantsin Jiangxi. The resurgence of Longevity Palace of Xishan in the late Ming, can beregarded as the symbol of the emerging local political forces with the gentry classas representative. And in the time, the Longevity Palace of Xishan is only a worshipcenter of community. Finally, it can explore the fabrication process of the local godsthrough the research of sacrifices and temple activities of Xu Zhenjun.
