Life satisfaction is a subjective evaluation made by the individual inaccordance with its own set of standards that their quality of life. Developing asuitable situation of Chinese middle-aged people’s life satisfaction questionnaireand examining the current status of Chinese middle-aged life satisfactioncharacteristics and related factors is of great significance, not only for the mentalhealth of individuals but the public. In this study, on the basis of literature research,we develop a life satisfaction questionnaire for middle-aged, and take a stratifiedrandom sampling survey of1230middle-aged. The results show that:1. The life satisfaction questionnaire for middle-aged people consists of30topics, including six factors: health status, parent-child relationship, marital status,interpersonal status, occupational status and social security. The questionnaire hasgood reliability and validity, satisfing criteria of mental surveying.Therefore it canbe used as the tool in the investigation or assessment of middle-aged people’s lifesatisfaction.2. At present, life satisfaction of middle-aged is at middle level, sixdimensions of life satisfaction scores from high to low are as follows: interpersonalstatus, marital status, parent-child relationship, social security, occupational status,health status.3. The middle-aged people’s life satisfaction has differences in gender, age,marital condition, education, occupation, family income, Children’s status. It showsthat the middle-aged men’s score was significantly higher than women’s;46to50-year-old middle-aged life satisfaction is higher than other; completed marriageof middle-aged satisfaction was significantly higher than other; college educationof middle-aged life satisfaction is the highest. Job stability has significance on lifesatisfaction that the stable is higher than not stable. Middle-aged men living forpoor economy has the lowest satisfaction.people live in towns have highersatisfaction scores than in rural. Different children situation will also affect themiddle-aged life satisfaction.
