| During his lifetime, the Swiss scholar Jacob Burckhardt gained internationalrecognition for his great contribution to both Cultural History and Art History.Burckhardt’s historical masterpiece The Civilization of the Renaissance in Italy, sinceits first publication, has consistently invited correction and refutations. However, ithas still become a classic and compelling each new generation of readers. This thesisaims to rediscover this classic masterpiece of cultural history, as has long beenrecognised, the lack of visual arts in The Civilization of the Renaissance in Italyconsistently drew curious attention from the readers. In this thesis I try to answer thisquestion and find the connection between Cultural History and Art History. |
