This report, based on FLTRP’s literature translation project assigned on the rendering of English novels into Chinese, delineates the translation methods and principles of the literary text. The report is organized in the following four chapters. Chapter One serves as an introduction to the background of the translation project, the entrusting party and its requirements for the project; Chapter Two is a review of the whole translation process; Chapter Three, being the body of the report, makes an exploratory analysis of the main features of the literary translation and the translation document. Moreover, it presents the typical problems encountered in the translation process, such as the translation of the individualized language, the rendering of portrait depiction and the reproduction of the writing techniques in the source language and at the same time puts forward related solutions to them by quoting some examples from the translated text; Chapter Four is the concluding part of the report. It first sums up the major findings and gains in undertaking the translation project. Then it points out the limitations of the report. Implications for the further improvement of the quality of the literary translation are finally provided.
