Now days, Chinese teaching in Thailand has developed rapidly, the amount of university that choose to open Chinese courses is increasing, and the number of people who select courses of Chinese is also growing. However, Chinese elective course teaching becomes the main force in the development of Chinese teaching in Thailand. But, the situation of Thailand Chinese elective course teaching is really not optimistic: the students’interest of learning is extremely low, the confidence is generally insufficient, most of students are under a low level of Chinese; the school’s textbook is different and complex, lack of systematicness. The material of teaching content is too difficult, not suitable for the present Chinese elective course teaching. Also the way of teaching is too traditional, the mainly mode of teaching on class is just to impart the certain knowledge; it is hard to stimulate students’learning interest and enthusiasm.Scaffolding instruction is based to build the "scaffolding" to inspire learner’s autonomy of discovery and learning, to replace instilling answer directly, to transform the idea of constructivist perspective of learning into effective operation of the program. If the Scaffolding instruction is applied in the Chinese class, it could change the traditional teaching mode and improve the effectiveness of Chinese teaching obviously. It’s sure that under the Scaffolding instruction the design of Chinese class teaching will give positive directory significance to the practical class teaching.This article is a teaching design of elective Chinese class in Thailand based on "Scaffolding instruction". It selects the material of "experiencing Chinese" as the specific research examples, and uses the theory of Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD theory), Constructivism and the Comprehensible Input Hypothesis as the basis. It’s a new design for Thailand University Chinese language elective class teaching. Firstly, on the basis of investigation and analysis, this article shows the feasibility of teaching Chinese in Thailand University under the Scaffolding instruction, and then gives a total design about Chinese teaching; this program includes the objectives of Chinese elective course teaching, teaching principles, teaching contents, teaching implementation and teaching evaluation. The most important is that it designs the bracket of Scaffolding instruction based on the combination of teaching content, and also designs the situational, group activities and its effect evaluation. Finally, the article gives the specific scaffolding teaching case, and carries on a preliminary experiment teaching. Analysis of teaching effect shows that students in classroom are very interested in the Scaffolding class; it reduces difficulties of language construction, which realizes the transformation from language knowledge to language communication ability.The innovation point of this article is that it guides students to learn and discover actively and creates student-centered classroom through the combination of suitable teaching material and Scaffolding construction, which makes up a blank in Chinese elective course teaching in Thailand University.
