From the mid-19th century to the the early20th century, be forced to open the door, Bakumatsu-Meiji Japanese and the late Qing Chinese people walked to the world. They wrote a lot of overseas Han-poetry when they contacted and learned the western culture. Distinctive exotic images were created, and French images were one part of them.According to the theory of Imagologie of Comparative Literature, all the descriptions of "the other" are "self-speech", in fact. So French images in Sino-Japanese overseas Han-poetry can not only show sino-Japanese people’s understanding to France, but also reflect cultures of China and JapanThis paper tries to compare and analysis the similarities and differences between the French images in Sino-Japanese overseas Han-poetry from the point of Imagologie of Comparative Literature, and find the potential causes of the images, excavate the national mentality and cultural differences behind these images. In the first chapter, the similar French images in overseas Han-poetry are analyzed from some aspacts, such as basic necessities of life, scenic spots, customs and culture, science, technology, education, domestic and foreign affairs. And the causes of similar French images will also be excavated from the aspects of law of understanding, realistic national conditions, the carrier and traditional culture; In the second chapter, the images of "Napoleon","Eiffel Tower and balloon","expositions and museums" and the "negative French images" are discoursed in order to find the causes of different French images; In the third chapter, by analyzing the destinies of Image-shapers such as diplomats and students study abroad, we can find the realities of China and Japan, and Sino-Japanese nationals’ attitude to French images and culture. Based on these facts, we can compare the national mentality of Sino-Japanese people.In short, French images not only reflect the cultural collision and exchanges between east and west, but also reveal the enormous culture differences between China and Japan. Nowadays, we still have to face the clash of cultures and listen to the voice from other contries. Sino-Japanese people in the second half of the19th Century provide us with the valuable experience in the aspect of cultural exchanges.
