The You Lu’s Art Of Calligraphy Research

After Xiao Zong had ascended the throne, the calligraphy of the Southern Song Dynastywere into the brilliant period. It appeared "the Southern Song four" who were Lu You and FanChengda and Zhu Xi and Zhang Jizhi who were as representatives. Among them, Zhang Jizhiwas famous as a calligrapher. Lu You and Fan Chengda were famous as poets. Zhu Xi wasfamous as a master of reason theory. The Southern Song Dynasty calligraphy is at low ebb.Because they emulated approximately, they did not eliminate the affects of elder generation. Thecalligraphy of Lu You has a calligraphy style of advocating “Yi” of the Song Dynasty. Lu You isfamous as a poet. It has cast his personality which was contradictive seemingly and inevitablecharacter that his ideology of Confucian which enters the world positively and Taoism which isinaction. And it effected his creation of the poetry and calligraphy. Lu You is good at cursive. Hehad good foundation of the regular script by studying Yan Zhenqing and Ouyang Xun. Hestudied the running script of Yang Ningshi and Su Shi and Mi Fu. He studied the cursive ofZhang Xu, Huai Su and Huang Tingjian. Lu You’s learning process is divided into three periods:adolescence, middle age when he was an officer and old age during his period of retirement. Hiscalligraphy learned widely from other’s points. His calligraphy not only has forceful virility ofYan Zhenqing, but also has elegant and unconventional quality of Yang Ningshi, also has penrhyme of advocating “Yi” of the Song Four. This article begins from the calligraphy causes ofthe Southern Song. Then it talks about the background, the life and friendship of Lu You. Last, itdiscourses Lu You’s calligraphy art.“Lu you calligraphy art”is the focus of this article. Frommany points of view, the author elaborated Lu You’s calligraphy by using the analysis andcomparison and icon and so on. And then I discussed the esthetics thought in the calligraphy ofLu You. Finally, I expounded the influence of Lu You’s calligraphy and the development ofcontemporary calligraphy inspiration. This paper tries to avoid talking about Lu You’scalligraphy directly. we can grasp better the essence of Lu You’s calligraphy by making acomprehensive exploring the calligraphy of Lu You. And it is very important significance that weunderstand the development of the Southern Song calligraphy.
