The pursuit of the arts is an important part of spiritual civilization, however worthyof our consideration is that nowadays too pursuit of material enjoyment, but the lack ofthe pursuit of spiritual life. Facing the the lack of spiritual pursuit in the real world, thefamous philosopher of twentieth Century Whitehead used the concepts of contactelaborated a art concept which contains the aesthetic value. He advocated thedevelopment of people’s aesthetic ideas as the goal, persist in the dream of truth andbeauty in the adventure, thus promote the individual aesthetic ability, Speed up theprocess of social civilization. On the basis of this art concept, the thought of arteducation aims to promote the educated develop a habit with aesthetic idea, contacts allthings which contain beauty in activity, and to follow the principle of creativity, rhythm,balance and life, The full flavor of organic philosophy thought of art education offers anew perspective for the development of art education in China, make us have a newunderstanding and pursuit of art education: pay attention to the value appreciation ofindividual, importance generation of individual art emotion, enhance the activities of arteducation and creating the environment of artistic atmosphere.This research is divided into the following four parts:The first part is the introduction, the main contents include: the reason of selectedtopic, research review, main content of research, innovation and research methods.The second part introduce Whitehead organic philosophy art and its significance,including the meaning of art and the significance of art.The third part is the main content of Whitehead ’s thought of art education. Includesfive aspects: first, introduce the purpose of art education:" to develop a habit of aestheticconcept"; second, introduce the content of art education: all things contain beauty; third,introduce the way of art education:"contact" in the activity; fourth, describes thefunction of Art Education: promoting individuals" the appreciation of value ", givingindividual" imaginative vision" and promoting social "towards the road to civilization";fifth, introduce the principles of art education: the creative principle, rhythmic principle,balance principle and the life principle.The fourth part is the enlightenment of Whitehead ’s art education thought. Includes four aspects: first, clear issues in art education, improve the importance of artseducation; second, enriching course content character, to "change the consistency to thediversification"; third, strengthening the art activities, make "thinking in action toachieve"; fourth, emphasizes the artistic atmosphere, creating the environment of artisticatmosphere.The last part is the conclusion. Make a final summary and points out theshortcomings of this research.
