Discussion On The Ravel’s Piano"Sonatina" Characteristics Of Performance

"Sonatina"is from an early stage of Maurice Ravel’s music who wrote it in1905. Originally it was entered in a contest for "Music Magazine". After the contest the audience welcomed it, and it was formally published."Sonatina"is one of his works which shows the embodiment of combination classical spirit with modern technique. In order to research Ravel’s early stage piano music and French piano music, it is important to research and play the music. In this paper through the author’s playing experience and feelings, research and analysis was made on the main features of "Ravel’s style" piano playing from different angles. This research is also useful for teaching and playing his music and for researching the character of it.This paper mainly studies his creative features and the features of playing "Sonatina", and makes an analysis of the song. The first chapter is an introduction explaining the research content, method, purpose and significance of "Sonatina". The second chapter shows the creation background and character of "Sonatina", and delineates its creative character. The third one researches its melody, style and harmony. The forth chapter is about the playing features of "Sonatina", and it studies touch, dynamics, rhythm and the use of pedal method. The fifth chapter is the conclusion of the analysis the various performance aspects. They were summarized, and summed up the performance of this work which should grasp several points. It is the author’s hope that this work analysis and research will help us to further understand the piano works of Ravel, and to provide some reference in the process of learning to play his music.
