Documentary has been under continuous development since itemerged in1922, and in the almost100year development, the trend ofnarrative documentary has been ongoing all the time. In recent years,with advanced technologies widely used in movie shooting andemerged internet media’s importance increased on mass media,transition of documentary is more and more highlighted and it has paidmore and more attention on visual effects and audience experience. Indoing so, its purpose on attracting more audiences comes true.However, problems follow afterwards. At the same time whennarrativity and visuality is emphasized on, Documentary style begins tochange and even some documentaries don’t look like what they usedto be. Does the change contradict with authenticity documentaries runafter? What kind of relationship is it between narrativity and authenticityof narrative documentary? The author wrote this paper based onconcluding documentary shooting experience and reciewing manyexcellent documentaries in and abroad, as well as doing someresearch on documentary’s history.This paper aims to find out some law and thinking method fornarrative documentary so as to give guidance to producingdocumentary.
