Ye Shengtao’s researches on writing practice, teaching practice and writing theory nearly cover the development of Chinese writing theory in every stage in20th century. His ideas on writing education play a significant role in the educational system, not only in20th century but also in21th century.Especially in the spirit of promoting Essential-qualities-oriented Education and Humanism Education in contemporary times, Ye Shengtao’s writing education ideas on Human guides the teaching of middle school writing. Therefore, the research on Ye Shengtao’s writing theory from the perspective of humanism could provide the new horizon on the development of writing teaching. This thesis conducts research by adopting literature research and historical comparative research. The main body of the present thesis is organized as follows:Chapter one elaborates the confirmation of Ye Shengtao’s subject view of writing. The author mainly covers the writing on view subject in his writing theory, including the virtue view on honesty as the core, the writing training view on sketching, the writing objective view on demanding, the writing teaching view on habit-forming. The confirmation of Ye Shengtao’s subject view of writing broadens the new horizon of writing in his time, and further guides the way on today’s writing teaching practice.Chapter two illustrates Ye’s observation on middle writing teaching objects. The theory of his writing theory, with strong pertinence, chiefly focuses on the writing study of middle school students. Ye indicates that three aspects are contributed to the good writing teaching:ensuring the uniqueness of students both physically and mentally and clearing that the scope of writing teaching in middle school is to teach students to write ordinary but not literature articles; writing teaching in middle school aims at cultivating the students’writing ability so as to lay a foundation for writing all kinds of genre; writing teaching in middle school should abide by a guiding principle, that is, the ultimate goal of writing teaching is to unify the writing and man’s behavior. Meanwhile, through the interpretation on Ye’s Chinese education anthology, this chapter reveals his constituent analysis on the writing ability.Chapter three demonstrates Ye’s definition on writing teaching subjects. Ye highly stresses the teacher’s influence on writing teaching and gives a detailed analysis and suggestion on the teacher’s role in teaching. This thesis conducts research on the perspective of writing proposition and writing assessment, trying to reveal that the teacher should observe the following principle, that is, while in writing proposition, making students write an article actively but not passively, while in writing assessment, making students get a sense of achievement.Chapter four provides the new culture ideas in Ye’s writing theory. Ye integrates the new culture ideas and writing education ideas from three aspects:fostering citizen consciousness, expressing true temperament and cultivating personality.In brief, the present thesis illustrates Ye’s writing education ideas, the development and prospective of his writing theory from four perspective:subject view of writing, writing teaching objects, writing teaching subjects, and the humanistic ideas in writing education.
