The paper make a study of Nietzsche’s view of happiness and suffering. Nietzsche’s fundamental concern throughout his life was to plot a life theory. He argues that existence is meaningful only to the extent that the suffering of existence has a meaning. And argues that no life without happiness. the struggle for happiness is the struggle for life. Thus. view of happiness and suffering is an important part of Nietzsche’s. life theory. There have always been a tendency to invoke suffering as an argument against existence. Nietzsche argues that suffering is not an argument against life. but. on the contrary. a stimulant to life. Suffering is inherent in life. thus. the negation of suffering is the negation of life. Suffering must be affirmed. He argues the nature of existence as the will to power that orders existence to do some creative activities. Life in its creativity transcends the finite being to attain infinity. With the creativity, life can overcome suffering. and obtain happiness.Nietzsche criticizes view of happiness and suffering of the old metaphysics. Knowledge. morality and religion are three branches of the old metaphysics. They are respectively the true and the good as values superior to life. Nietzsche argues that all are the ascetic ideal. He examines them and argues that the ascetic ideal opposes life. The ascetic deny oneself various pleasures for the sake of the ascetic ideal. and cure suffering by inflicting more suffering on themselves.
