Abstract/Summary:
Quantifier is an essential and characteristic word class in Chinese. Although limitedin amount, it often makes the foreign students confused and obscure because of itsflexible usage, which lead to a large number of errors in Chinese learning and usingprocess. Therefore, Quantifier is always the difficult point in Chinese teaching as asecond language, and it has great practical value to do some research on it.In this paper, we used research methods such as questionnaire survey, interviewing,enumerating, diagramming, comparison, error analysis, etc. and designed anexamination paper based on71quantifiers that appear in the elementary,pre-intermediate and intermediate edition of Boya Chinese in order to review theunderstanding and using of quantifiers of150Central Asia students from elementary,intermediate to advanced level. We also gathered a large language corpus by themeans of classroom records, after-class assignments and extracurricular interviews.Using the theory of Language Error Analysis, we processed and aggregated thesurveys of Central Asia students, and ran thorough analysis of the words which theleast amount of students answered correctly, classified the errors in the surveys andlanguage corpus, explored the causes of these errors.In addition, according to the research results and the practical teaching experience,this paper gave advices on the teaching of quantifiers from the perspectives ofteaching methods, teachers, students, textbooks, etc. In order to provide useful help inthe teaching of quantifiers in Chinese teaching as a foreign language.
