Xinhua Dictionary Dialect Word Entry Research

We observe the dialect word ‘s choice, pronunciation, meaning and example in10edition of the Xinhua Dictionary. We compare the similarities and differences of the dialectword ‘s choice, pronunciation, m eaning and example in Xinhua Dictionary and ChineseDictionary.We analysis dialect’s present situation, Strengths and weaknesses of the XinhuaDictionary.We explore the implementation of the language standard. We found that certainaspects of the dialect entry theory inadequate. by these we look forward to provide a referenceto improve the dialect entry and to provide a reference for the dialect entries theoreticalconstruction.We believe that the dialect word entry in the proportion of about3%is reasonable.Included dialect word entries, When the collection of dialect words, the dialect of some lowerfrequency can be removed. For dialect note phonetic, the highest proportion of the dialectword used alone, which fully guarantee the independent status of the dialect, and the differentmeaning is the same pronunciation fully reflects the principle of economy. Dialect word’smeaning and examples have been revised, which embodies the principle of a reflection ofsociety. Dictionary need to constantly revise to maintain their accuracy and normative. Byanalyzing the development and current status of the dialect, we make recommendations andhope to provide reference for the study of dialect.
