This paper is mainly on all levels of government work report, with the method of corpuslinguistics. It makes a quantitative statistical analysis on the special words,high-frequency sentence patterns and sentence,fixed setence,sentence groups,rhetoric usuallyused in all levels of government work report, by constructing an corpus of all levels ofgovernment work report, so to provide scientific and comprehensive guidance for governmentwork report written with respective to special words, sentence and rhetoric.The first chapter "Introduction", points out the concept, characteristices,history andcurrent situation, main contents and the main theory and methods of the government workreport research. What’s more, it describes the sources and methods of corpus construction.The second chapter analyzes the characteristics of special words,such as newworda,abbreviations,fuzzy words,idioms, on government work report.The results show thatthe government work report used some new words about principles and policies.The numberis small but the guidance is very important.It used more abbreviations.One reason is due tolanguage needs,the other is it is simple and easy to remember. Fuzzy words are reasonablemuch, it plays an important role in expressing thoroughness and conciseness. Idioms enhancereadability and popularity of the government work report because it is vivid and catchy.Itused more terms which reflect policy changes of diferent areas.Chapter three examines features,usage, major role and about sentence patternsincluding single sentences and complicated sentences, sentence groups including commentarysentence groups, sentence including special sentence and fixed sentence.Chapter four discusses the common rhetorices and their function which includeparallelism,metaphor,contrast,antithesis,metonymy,match,quotation,loopback,lianzhu.The results show that the top two is parallelism and metaphor.The other were used in specialsituation.In the conclusion part, it makes a brief summary of the words,sentence and rhetorices’application and their main features, based on the previous chapters’ work. Furthermore, itevaluates the innovation and inadequacies of this research.
