Modern Shandong was full of fequent warfares and natural disasters,so it was muchturbulent.In order to cope with the problems of refugees,with the fraternity mind,thebranches of Shandong red cross consciously assumed the responsibility for somecharity,bringing much humanitarian care for vulnerable groups.This paper researches on the rising background of Shandong red cross in late Qing atfirst,then based on this, discussing the contribution of Shandong Red Cross to warambulance,disaster relief,health care and social relief in the various ages,such as late Qingperiod,the early years of the Republic of China period, Anti-Japanese War period, war ofliberation period and so on.And making Qingdao branch,Juxian branch as a casestudy,points out the unique function of the branch of Red Cross in the rescuingspecifically.At the same time,chapter five summarizes the characteristics and the socialfunction of the movement of Shandong Red Cross, comparing with Jiangsu RedCross,wishing to provide some historical reference for the development of contemporarycharities and the building of harmonious society.
