There were many serious disasters and famines in the1920s of Shandongprovince, including flood, drought, hail and so on. Many disasters led more people tohunger or die. In this period of time, the characteristic of disasters and famines weremore frequent and wider than any other time. Considering the reasons of thesedisasters and famines, there were both social factors and natural factors, but socialfactors were more strength.For the political situation wasn’t stable, the government couldn’t offer efficientrelief for Shandong province. On the other hand, non-governmental charity developedfast, which playing very important role in relieving victims in Shandong province,such as The Word Red Swastika Society, The Red Cross and The China internationalfamine relief commission. Some of them raised money and food to the victims, someof them adopted work relief for poor people and so on. Because of them, manyvictims survived in Shandong province.In the1920s, there were the Northern government and Nanjing nationalgovernment. Both of them were unstable government. Facing so serious disasters andfamines, they took measures to relieve poor people, including traditional and modern.As result, they didn’t have many abilities to resolve the problem. But some of thesemeasures did work.From the passage, we can learn that if we want live more comfortable, we shouldhave a stable government. And the government should contact non-governmentcharity to prevent disasters and famines. We sincerely hope that we all try our best tocreate the harmonious society, and our government can protect people’s life andproperty.
