| 《Xin Shi Xun》 is the only work which fully discussed the "doctrine of mean" and"ethical daily theory " of the book 《Six Books of Zhen and Yuan》,in the book,it usesrational spirit as the guidance, and puts forward the ten articles of life law. Provided peoplelive by these life laws, they can get completely rational life. Although Feng Youlan doesn’tput forward "rational personality", the ten articles of the life law is put forward for therational spirit guide. FengYoulan considers the highest goal of a human’s life is to realize hisown rationality and to become "a saint" with the complete development of moral rationalityand sane rationality. So we have fully reason to refine the concept of "rational personality"from《Xin Shi Xun》,which can be interpreted by using the concept. The ten articles of lifelaws in the book《Xin Shi Xun》are really border of the "the original law" instead of Mr. Fengmaking it out, and all of these are manifest with guide of the rationality in life. People maketheir efforts to following these methods. In order to use them better, people put them in theactual application and understand more about their rational essence. The more understanding,the handier using; the more often use, the more and deeper understanding. There is a coursefrom strange to familiar if people follow the methods that was put forward by Mr. Feng, andit’s the right time to form the rational personality that people are familiar with the way of life.Then people will always make rational judgment through the rational thinking when they arefaced with something whether mass in life or moral dilemma.The Neo-Confucians divided human thoughts into "justice" and "desire", whichmanifest the opposition between moral and immoral, however it didn’t take the reasonableposition of neutral moral into consideration and often connect neutral moral ideas with "desire ".《Xin Shi Xun》 puts forward " amorality " neutral morality, which opens up areasonable space for the neutral moral thought and behavior, and reduces the excessiveintervention of moral evaluation to the life.If people don’t understand the original rule of 《Xin Shi Xun》 consciously,they are hard to fully follow it. The book reveals the laws to make people understand them soadequately that they are in accordance with them better and lay the foundation for formingthe self-awareness meanwhile. Understanding consciously, can obtain a kind of "awareness"life. There are some superficial differences of the concept "awareness"between 《Xin ShiXun》 and 《Xin Yuan Ren》,but they are identical essencially. The essence of human isrationality which requires people to understand things correctly and consciously. The concept"awareness" reflected a kind of rational spirit which abandoned the foolish and ignorant. Ifpeople equip themselves with the rational personality, they will live an "aware"life.Orthodox Confucian tends to distinguish "merit" and "virtue" strictly, and take thepersonality of sages which few people can achieve as their life guidance. In 《Xin Shi Xun》,Mr. Feng combined the personal success with social life rule, and the personal "utility" with"virtue", which puts forward right life method for a lot of people, and a new version forbuilding civilian personality. Living as mentioned, people will not only obtain the perfectpersonality, but also obtain the success of his career at the same time. They are notinconsistent and bring out the best in each other. |
