With the development of technology and network, the distance between people is getting closer and the communication between peoole is getting more and more frequent.A growing number of international affairs and international exchange bring people from different cultural backgrounds together to communicate. In order to achieve the desired results, both overseas work and overseas study can not be separated from cross-cultural communication and is inseparable from cross-cultural adaptation. There is a lot of theoretical results about cross-cultural adaptation.Kim thinks that cross-cultural adaptation is a phenomenon,is to establish and maintain a relatively stable interactive and effective relationship between himself and the new culture environment.John Berry point out theory of the four cultural adaptation, including cultural integration, cultural assimilation, cultural isolation and cultural marginalization.Cross-cultural adaptation is a difficult process to overcome the culture shock.people will generally experience a honeymoon phase, crisis phase, recovery period and adaptation period in the cross-cultural adaptation. Cross-cultural adaptation can be divided into long-term cross-cultural adaptation and short-term cross-cultural adaptation. It has been a long history that communication between the Indonesians and the Chinese people. The most typical long-term cross-cultural adaptation is the cross-cultural adaptation of the Indonesian Chinese. During the time of a few hundred years, the arguments which put forward in the "Oriental Jews"by Rama VI is deeply rooted among the Indonesians, which lead to negative stereotyped impression in the minds of Indonesians left. Today, there are still contradictions between the Indonesian Chinese and local residents.Therefor what kind of impact there will be for the short-term cross-cultural is still a question.Starting from my own internship experience,I investigate the short-term cross-cultural adaptation from the environment and daliy living aspect, communication aspect, customs aspect and other aspects. Also I want to find the key factors to adapt to each other between culture of China and culture of Indonesia. In Indonesia Muslim has an absolute advantage in population. Islamic advocate militancy force, born of exclusion for non-Islamic, therefore in cross-cultural adaptation process we should fully respect each other’s religious beliefs.
