Study On Sustainable Development Of The Mixed Heritage Of Mount Emei Scenic Area, Including Leshan Giant Buddha

World Heritage is cultural and natural heritage which is of outstanding value, themost precious legacy left by nature, the symbol of human history and civilization,represent the most valuable cultural and natural landscape, mankind’s commonvaluable wealth. The world mixed heritage not only has the characteristics of culturalheritage but also has the characteristics of the natural heritage, it makes the long andheavy culture and nature landscape blend. Mount Emei Scenic Area, including LeshanGiant Buddha Scenic Area fit for the (IV),(VI),(X) selection criteria of WorldHeritage and was listed by UNESCO as world cultural and natural dual heritage in1996. It is one of the four mixed heritage sites in China.We make a depth research from the following aspects:1. On the basis of reading lots of reference and combined with site inspecting, weanalyses the basic characteristics of geographical conditions, geological background,cultural values, natural values of Mount Emei Scenic Area, including Leshan GiantBuddha Scenic Area. In addition, we make a comprehensive evaluation about the typeof heritage resources.2. The thesis analyses the tourism status of the Mount Emei Scenic Area,including Leshan Giant Buddha Scenic Area in recent years, from the changes in thenumber of tourists as well as the threat report of United Nations on the curve of theMount Emei Scenic Area, including Leshan Giant Buddha Scenic Area. Then, wemake an analysis of SWOT and find the advantages and weaknesses of heritagetourism development.3. We contrast Mount Emei Scenic Area, including Leshan Giant Buddha ScenicArea with China’s other three mixed heritage sites (Mount Taishan， MountHuangshan，Mount Wuyi) and some foreign representative mixed heritage sites on many aspects，like Heritage features，development protection status and problems,management model. After that we points out the shortage of Mount Emei Scenic Area,including Leshan Giant Buddha Scenic Area in development.4. In the end，the thesis puts forward problems and measures in sustainabledevelopment. The sustainable development measures are as followed:(1) strengtheneducation to enhance the consciousness of conservation of World Heritage;(2) toestablish a unified management model;(3) improve the environment;(4) dig thecultural connotation and change the structure of tourism products;(5)improve the laws and regulations and establish special laws for World Heritageprotection;(6) strengthen the digital construction of heritage sites...
