The pair show was born in t he vast Northeast part of Chi na, an everblooming flower of the local art. It was beli eved a cul tural and folk arttreasure i n t he Nor theast. It was so popular in t he Nor theast tha t al mosteverybody there c o uld hum a fe w words fr om any whol e scene. There areeven ol d s ayings goes " We c a n pass di nner but not the pair show, Thousandsof people crowded a round the pair ". Wh at ’s more, this was t he real sit uationof the popularity of the pair s how. Though it get the strength t o gro w at t hesame time it also drew a lot of bitter criticism. Some people call it as noisyjuggling. Other s thought it was filt hy, erotic and vulgar and so on. It is quitenor mal that there e xist di ffer ent opi nions and comment s a bout a for m of art .But such extremely di fferent views at once attract ma ny scholars’ eye. Theyall started their research of t his local art. In this paper, on the basis of theprecedi ng scholars, I made an analysi s of the aesthetic characteristics for t hepair show.This paper chose the generalization and clarification of the aestheticcharacteristic of this local art as its frame, combining the text of a certain play toreveal and integrate the cultural connotation. This thesis contains these severalaspects below. Firstly, the writer explained the reason why it was met with suchgreat favor. The most important reason is its using of the northeast dialect, its reallife_oriented contents and its frequent interactions with the audience. Secondly, thewriter discusses its performing forms which was generalized as simple and flexiblein aesthetics. The mini group of the pair could play an large army due to itsperforming form. Its actor or actress could play a character but not appear as ahuman. To be or not to be the character in the play the performers had the ability toenable to entertain and enlighten the audience but not to mislead them. What’s more,the jumping in and out performing way distinguish itself from the other drama forms.Thirdly, the writer identified it as humorous and funny. At the same time this paperunveil the relations between its unique style and the abundant sources of history and culture. For the forth part, this paper did some research on the music of this artdrawing related culture nutrition from the unique traits of different peoples andvaried regions. In addition, from the colorful, vivid and unadorned tune and singingin the music in the pair show. Finally, out of the current developing situation of thepair show the author made an analysis of the distinctive parts of the nowadayspopular pair show and the traditional one aimed at the revealing the deep reasonsof the change. Meanwhile, this paper had included some suggestions and proposalsfor this drama form to achieve the goal of contributing to the fine development of thepair show.
