With increasing enthusiasm in Chinese Language comes burgeoning development in theteaching of the language. There has been a surge in the publications of study materials forChinese due to the increasing level of enthusiasm in the language and the influence of theBeijing Olympics. But the cumulative experience of Chinese teaching has been short relativeto that of other languages like Korean or English.Therefore, this article shall analyze internally and externally the structural contents of<Speaking Chinese (part1)> which is currently being used by private language schools inKorea and <高级汉语口语1> written by刘元满任雪梅金舒年. The analysis shall lookinto eight areas. Externally, we will analyze the entire as well as topical structure, editorial,pictorial and aesthetics. Internal analysis and compilation shall include subject matter,vocabulary, cultural, practical contents etc. We will compile the similarities and differencesbetween these two books. From these findings, we can then provide advises on the directionof future study materials. The purpose of such an analysis is to increase the effectiveness andquality of Chinese study materials so as to further increase its market appeal.
