This is a translation project report for the first three chapters of For Us, TheLiving—A Comedy of Customs written by Robert Anson Heinlein. This is a hardscience fiction which should be translated according to the principle of functionalequivalence in translation to realize the equivalence of language and culture betweenoriginal text and translation. From this translation project report, we could learn a lotfrom Robert Aï¹'Heinlein’s great novel and also make a self-improvement.By deeply analyzing the original text and introducing the various translationmethods and strategies adopted guided by the principles of functional equivalence intranslation, the writer aims to offer some practical translation principles and methodsfor the translation of science friction. This report consists of four chapters:1) Theintroduction of the translation program which including the background, object,significance and structure.2) The analysis of the original text and its author as well asthe translation preparations.3) The analysis of difficulties and methodologies oftranslation, which also accompanied with examples and the translation theory.4) Thesummarization of the experience gained and some problems to do solved, in which thethird part will illustrate the main translation methods by detailed examples,composing the core of this report. |
