Study On Graphic Design Of Olympic Emblem

Since1896twenty-nine Olympic Games have been held. As the protagonist of the Olympic Games’ visual image design, Olympic emblem has already become a kind of unique cultural phenomenon. The same as general logos in Olympic emblem graphics are the most important and basic components. They are the key in Olympic emblem design, which make a direct impact on the overall effects and inner tension of the Olympic emblem, with the advantages of going beyond national boundaries, ethnicity and language barriers. What’s more, graphics, as an artistically visual language in logos, convey audience information and splendor of arts.With the rapid development of economy, people’s aesthetic needs are constantly changing and improving. In order to cater to these needs, many works of logo design vary their design concept and expression form continuously. What kind of works can survive from the test of time and history? By looking at Olympic emblem from a unique perspective as a starting point, this article clearly and exactly concluded the historical development of the graphic design of Olympic emblem, and then studied its trends and research methods, expecting to enrich the theories of graphic design. Structures of the article are as follows:Introduction:First of all, it discussed the current situation of modern logo design. Secondly, brief review the development of Olympic emblem design. Thirdly, put forward that studies on graphic development of Olympic emblem should make use for reference in enriching the theories and practice of modern logo design.Chapter one:To begin with, review the origin, concept and characteristics of Olympic emblem and graphics. Then analyze the relationship between graphics and Olympic emblem. Finally, summarize the basic graphics of Olympic spirit. Besides, fully understanding of Olympic emblem and graphics is the precondition of analyzing logo graphic design.Chapter two:According to various factors, such as current world structure, economic power, traditional culture, artistic style, etc., do an in-depth analysis of all the graphics of Olympic emblem up to now. It manifested that the study on these graphics is mainly divided into four categories:concrete graphics, concrete and abstract graphics, highly rational abstract graphic, and free abstract graphics. This chapter would investigate the changeable expression forms from these four parts and it is also the key element of this article.Chapter three:through doing an in-depth analysis of graphics of Olympic emblem, the author explored the influence of thoughts and ideas of design on the design of modern logo, and the inspiration of them for the method of modern logo design. Then came to the conclusion that we can make innovation from three perspectives, namely, grasping the’shape’of graphics, extending the ’meaning’, and constructing methods of changing text into graphics.Chapter four:this chapter is about the development trend of the design of modern logo graphics. It concluded that in order to avoid being abandoned we should base on traditional culture, keep up with the pace of the times and pay attention to the influences of science and technology, which is the only way to truly meet the aesthetic needs of the audience and adapt to the changing of times.Economic globalization has made various cultural collisions and friction between countries. Meanwhile, economically developed western countries lead the cultural extension, which deeply influences the concept and expression of design. Under the circumstances, designers can not blindly regard imitation and fawning on foreign powers as their main guiding idea of logo design, but take the initiative in seeking and exploring the logo design road of their own country and nation, keep up with the pace of the times and play the supporting role of technology on art.Conclusion:Summed up the importance of logo graphic design, put forward the significance of logo design level and cultural connotations in representing comprehensive strength of a country.
