In every social, the custom of euphemism have been used as the dailycommunication tool for people in greeting expression, making an apology, expressinggratitude and extending good wishes. From time to time, through socialization process ineveryday life, people have learnt to be habituated to courtesy language usage, whichincluding the proper way to give blessing to other people in different situations. Peopleinvoke on blessing in courtesy forms as the tool to express their well desire, carefulness,attention or concernment about the other or the family and the respectfully elder. As thehabit of using euphemism or polite language in giving blessing has been repeatingpracticed from generation to generation, it has become social traditional way to expressfeeling also just to make a proper manner in each different occasion.The objective of this research is to compare the similarities and the differentiationsof the way to extend blessing between Thai and Chinese language, and find out howculture and social value influence the way people give blessing. The research findings arethat the blessing clauses of each tradition can reflect on each culture’s norms, priorityvalue and the common thought of the people. Besides, the research found that livelihoodform, religious and beliefs are all play significant role in constructing people’s mostyearning in life. Thus, this research will demonstrate how different social and subsistencebring about different form of giving bless, even both based on expressing good wishes,between Thai and Chinese culture.I hope this research will contribute to academic field of language studies,especially about giving blessing, for both Thai and Chinese students as it was written bythe purpose to develop understanding of language root, that set from culture, belief, normand social value of each nation, and the meaning of the way to extend good wishes bothin Thai and in Chinese.
