Comparative Research Of Euphemism In Chinese And Arabic

Politeness is the moral norm that everyone must comply in each society. Politeness is not only the range of ethics but also a subject of social linguistics and pragmatics.. In recent years, China the Arab World is getting close to each other, whether in the economic, political or cultural are issues. In order to create a peaceful, strong relation between the two nations, we must understand each other's language, culture, and way of thinking, just to avoid any kind of misunderstanding. a huge number of Chinese scholars, start to write and research in a social cultural issues of the Arab World. But few of them research and compare between euphemism in Chinese and Arabic language. Therefore, this subject still has a great space. The subject of this paper is "a comparative research of euphemism in Chinese and Arabic". This article started from the Chinese polite language expressions and idioms, arrange the majority of polite expressions in Chinese and Arabic, and talk about the culture influence on politeness on those two languages, also find the similarities and differences between them. In this study I explain the politeness phenomenon in the language according to the politeness principle proposed by language scholars in the West. This paper also gave some examples of different Arabic dialect, and highlighted some aspects of impoliteness in Chinese and Arabic. Hope this thesis can make Chinese people understand the Arab culture, and positively accept the cultural differences and also hope that Arabs in China understand more about politeness in Chinese and respect the Chinese people's thoughts and culture.
