Du Fu is a great realistic poet in our country, who has a good name of "saint". His anthology is also called as the "history of poetry". In addition to being rich in content and hasing a long span of time, his anthology is strong representative, and there are a abundant of overlapping words which provide a reliable material for our reseach. The paper chooses Hainan Press publishing Du Fu Complete Poems in1992as a original coper, and its overlapping words is regarded as the object of this research, which also has a quantitative, qualitative, static description of its form,its category, its syntactical function, its location distribution,its function of sentence struchure. These overlapping words in his anthology are compared with the words of Book of Songs, in order to highlight their similarities and differences, and sort out general evolution choroid of overlapping words from Book of Songs to Du Fu era.The paper contains six parts:The first part is its’introduction.It introduces in three parts, including present research situation of overlapping words,the selected topic basis, its research content, its research significance, its research methods, which keyly and detailedly overviews present research.situation of overlapping words.The second part is the definition of overlapping words. It mainly introduces the ancient, modern scholars’recognition to overlapping words, including understanding of overlapping words’ appellation, its’form, its’category, its’syntactical function, which draws lessons from their representative views, and reasonably defines them.The third part is the form and category of overlapping words in Du Fu’s anthology. the form of overlapping words in Du Fu’s anthology is mainly the form of AA.The form of ABB is also universal,but the form of AAB and AABB is rare.The category of overlapping words in Du Fu’s anthology concentrates on overlapping words2, but pure overlapping words aren’t any. The author firstly outlines overlapping words’ form, its’category, its’syntactical function, its position distribution and syntactic function, function of sentence struchure in four-character verse of Book of Songs, two poetry anthologies, and compares similarities and differences of overlapping words from the above aspects, thus highlighting overlapping words’ characteristic of these two anthologies.The sixth part is conclusion.
