Study On The Overlapping Of Words In Xingshiyan

Abstract: Overlapping is one of the important grammar means in Chinese. Short of form changing, Chinese has rich and common overlapping forms. So overlapping is important to the Chinese grammatical rules. This paper researches into the words overlapping in the Huaben novel Xing Shi Yan of Ming Dynasty. The paper mainly discussed the overlapping forms of verbs, adjectives, adverbs, classifiers and nouns. Quote the achievement on overlapping by other scholors. Besides the mentioned, we explained some difficult words in the paper. In the all, this paper comprehensively describes the overlapping forms of verbs, adjectives, adverbs, classifier and nouns in the novel. By making overall research into the overlapping forms of five word classes, it classfies and sums up the distribution and the types of them in the novel.Studying on the grammatical meaning of overlapping is the essential part of this paper. In order to better study it, we integrate the present achievement made by other linguistic scholars into the research of this paper. We hope the paper would contribute to providing some valuable viewpoint and materials to the study of Modern Chinese linguistic.There are seven chapters in the paper. They can be divided into three parts:The first part, chapter 1, is the introduction. It explains overlaping and other interrelated concepts, and gives a simple introduction to Xing Shi Yan.The second part, from chapter 2-6, is the body text. It researches into the overlapping forms of word classes. We mainly study on the overlapping structure, syntax function and grammatical meaning.The third part, chapter 7, is an epilogue. It is a brief induction of the content stated above.
