| Yu Zhi was born in the later period of Qing dynasty in the south of China. He is aphilanthropist and opera editor who firstly created Pihuang plays. In the point of "Literaturefor moral instruction" which is the tradition of Chinese literary, Yu Zhi paid his full passionfor it. He emphasized on the propagation of new opera and made the opera massification andopera indoctrination come true.In the turn period, he was influenced by the domestic strife and foreign aggression, sohe wrote Shu Ji Tang Jin Yue to guide the thought of people. However, he once was ignoredby the circle of traditional Chinese opera due to his class standpoint, lack of artistic qualityand other elements. By study Yu Zhi’s born background and personal experience to explorehis view of opera, this paper analyzes the positive influence of Yu Zh’s drama point to thatperiod and later period. Although his class standpoint was reactive, his traditional Chineseoperas were to stick up for feudalism in peril to“Turn back the powers of darkness in bothâ€.In the mean time, he spread his traditional Chinese operas to maintain Confucian EthicThoughts. This paper comprehensively analyses Yu Zhi in below.Yu Zhi’s view of the traditional opera was influenced by many aspects such as operaindoctrination, draw materials and Simple straight forward. By comparing the differences ofthe previous opera, this paper states his special opera indoctrination, analyze its reasons fromConfucian Ethic Thoughts, culture characteristic of later period of Qing dynasty, combinedwith his opera works and other aspects. Yu Zhi’s traditional opera point greatly influenced hissocial status, provided important reference, and created big significance to the Beijing operawhich would show in the history stage.
