Hu Yuzhi And Modern New Culture

Hu Yuzhi was a representative figure of Chinese progressive culture, he made great effects on the modern Chinese new culture. This thesis approaches the development history of the modern Chinese new culture through out Hu Yuzhi's activity and his articles from 1919 to 1949. At the same time, the thesis investigate the new democratic culture the developing direction to the modern new culture. Through deliberate Hu Yuzhi's activity and thoughts, we could seek a number of intellectuals how to search for the Chinese development and the ethnic liberation .This thesis include five parts altogether. The first part from vertical to analyse Hu Yuzhi and the new culture in development course of simultaneous pace. Among Wu- Si new culture movement, he wrote article to advocate the sprite of "democracy" & "science" many times , and recommended the writing of the writing in the vernacular in the literature revolution. Afterwards, he traveled abroad , taking vigorous action to study Marxism, and arrived in Soviet, accepted the Soviet Union's socialist culture . When china encounter Japan's aggression, Hu Yuzhi made every effort to promote and set up national united front of resist against Japan with other cultural workers .The second part to the fourth part, respectively discuss Hu Yuzhi' contributions in 3 issues, the news and publishing cause, reform of writing system movement, literature thought. In the publishing practice, he had always been insisting on the progressive news directions of public opinion as journalism foundation of thought, at the same time, his publishing practice embody the popularity sprits. Hu Yuzhi propose taking a broad view of the editor's policy of the world in editing and publish the publication. As one Esperanto scholar, Hupaid close attention to the development of Esperanto and promoted he spread in china of Esperanto actively.In the history of reform of writing system movement, he participated in the scheme for the Chinese phonetic Alphabet, try hard to promote people's culture. He still propagated the advanced literature theory and method in the west, translated famous literary works. Concerning to the Soviet literature, he wanted to probe one revolutionary theory for study even more. On basis of merging the base of the literature theory between the east and west, he created literature thought, nationality and originality. All his thoughts have promoted the literature modernizationThe fifth part summarize Hu Yuzhi's culture activities of the past 30 years. His thoughts which contain popularity prompt the new democracy culture; Push the Chinese news progress and development of publishing undertakings, realize characters serve society and political movement under objective request of times as representative of the ideological sphere. Hu Yuzhi's thoughts advanced with the Chinese modern new culture. As a person in culture circle, he bring full initiative into the process of modern new culture development history.
