After outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, in order to force the National Government tosurrender, the Japanese invaders crazily bombed the developed education area in southeast coastalarea along the Yangtze River. For the purpose of preserving cultural lifeblood, the NationalGovernment made an important decision that was westward of education. As a hinterland andbackward area, Sichuan Province received large number migrated schools, while its education alsohad been got an unprecedented development. Owing to Jiangjin County of Sichuan was located inthe western suburbs of Chongqing, was identified as the evacuation zone, many cultural andeducational institutions migrated to Jiangjin. They carried out various cultural and educationalactivities, which directly promoted the cultural and educational development in Jiangjin, and alsostimulated Jiangjin to be one of the four famous cultural districts in Sichuan, named Jin ShaCultural Area. Therefore, the Anti-Japanese War not only to provide a development opportunity inthe face of adversity for Jin Sha Cultural Area, but also make an indelible contribution forpreservation and development of Chinese education.This thesis develops closely centering on educational development in Jin Sha Cultural Area ofSichuan in the Anti-Japanese War, and consists five parts. The first part reviews the pre-wareducation in Jiangjin, and introduces the birth of the Jin Sha Cultural Area. The second partsummarizes Jin Sha Cultural Area’s educational development in the Second Sino-Japanese War,which is attempted to recovery its educational development situation by expounding primaryeducation, secondary education, higher education, and social education. Through the longitudinalcomparison and analysis of pre-war, wartime, and post-war, the third part sums up the relativelydistinct characteristics of educational development in Jin Sha Cultural Area during the SecondSino-Japanese War. Part four generalizes the cause of Jin Sha Cultural Area’s educationaldevelopment in the Anti-Japanese War, through the analysis and study of internal and externalcauses. Part five researches the achievements and shortages of Jin Sha Cultural Area’s educationaldevelopment during the Second Sino-Japanese War.
